Fausto de Elhuyar y de Suvisa (born October 11, 1755 in Logroño , Spain , † February 6, 1833 in Madrid ) was a Spanish chemist .

He studied chemistry with his brother Juan José Elhuyar in Paris from 1772 to 1776 and then went to the Freiberg Bergakademie with him . This was followed by study trips to Central Europe and Scandinavia and studying in Uppsala before returning to Spain in 1781. He was professor of metallurgy at the Bergara Mining School and went to Mexico City in 1788 as General Director of Mines, where he founded the Mining Academy in 1792. In 1821 he returned to Madrid, became Minister of State and General Director of Mines in Spain.

Fausto Elhuyar discovered in 1783 together with his brother Juan José Elhuyar (the major share of the discovery had) the tungsten .
