Fausto Prieto Sánchez (born September 6, 1908 in Guadalajara , Jalisco ; † June 4, 1993 ibid) was a Mexican football coach and goalkeeper who was exclusively under contract with his home club Deportivo Guadalajara throughout his active career . He was also the first coach of this club in the 1943/44 introduced Primera División . Between 1963 and 1973 he acted as deputy president of the same club.

biography

Fausto Prieto, who emerged from the youth department of Club Deportivo Guadalajara, made his debut in the first team at the age of 17 in a championship game of the 1925/26 season against Nacional de Guadalajara . In the seasons from 1940/41 to 1942/43 he was a member of the Selección Jalisco , in which the best players of the clubs from Guadalajara represented their state in the capital league.

The poor sources allow no reliable conclusion, but it can be assumed that Fausto Prieto is the legendary player from Guadalajara who began his career as a goalkeeper and later switched to attacking . He appears in the records of RSSSF several times as a goalscorer for the Selección Jalisco.

Together with his brother Maximiano Prieto , who, like the brothers Anastasio and Géronimo, was also under contract with the Club Guadalajara during his active career , Fausto Prieto opened a factory for sportswear in 1939. A few months later, he also opened a sporting goods store, which he ran until 1990.
