Max Prieto

Maximiano Prieto Sánchez (born March 28, 1919 in Guadalajara , Jalisco ; † May 30, 1998 ), better known under the short name Max Prieto , was a Mexican football player who was used both in midfield and in attack.

At the Soccer World Cup in 1950 he was part of the squad of the Mexican national team , but was not used. He is a brother of the late ex-goalkeeper Fausto Prieto , who was under contract with Club Deportivo Guadalajara throughout his playing career .

Max Prieto was an accurate attacking player: in the 1939/40 season he was top scorer in the Liga Amateur de Jalisco with ten goals and in 1947/48 with five hits the top scorer of the Copa México . He was also the top scorer of the CD Guadalajara in the Primera División in the seasons 1945/46 (with 14 goals), 1947/48 (13), 1948/49 (11) and 1949/50 (15) . Already in the opening season of the professional league 1943/44 he had set an early mark with five goals in a point game against Atlante on September 3, 1943. After more than ten years on the CD Guadalajara, Max Prieto moved to the city rivals Club Oro for a year after the 1950 World Cup , before ending his active career with the Atlas Guadalajara club, which is also based in Guadalajara .
