Faye Njie

Faye Alex Njie (born November 23, 1993 in Helsinki , Finland ) is a Finnish-Gambian judoka who last competed for the West African state of Gambia .

Career

Njie has a Gambian father and a Finnish mother, and according to his descent, he also has Gambian citizenship according to the Gambian constitution. He took part in the 2015 African Games in Brazzaville and represented the Gambian team in judo competitions in the weight class up to 73 kg. He got the silver medal. At the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro , he also took part in judo competitions in the weight class up to 73 kg. His first opponent was Didar Khamza from Kazakhstan, Njie lost and was eliminated in the qualifying round.
