Federal Correctional Institution Ray Brook

The Federal Correctional Institution, Ray Brook (FCI Ray Brook) in Ray Brook , New York , is a medium-security US federal prison . It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons .

It is located between the localities of Lake Placid and Saranac Lake .

History and capacity

The prison opened in Lake Placid in 1980 after the Winter Olympics in the Olympic Village buildings.

Director of the FCI Ray Brook has been Donald Hudson since July 2012.

The FCI 749 currently only accommodates male inmates (as of January 2018).

Famous inmates

From December 2012 to October 31, 2014 “Big Joe” Lubrano , a capo regime of the Lucchese family , was imprisoned in Ray Brook for armed robbery and illegal bookmaking , among other things .

Eduardo Arellano Félix , chief financial officer of the Tijuana cartel , was arrested in Mexico in October 2008 and extradited to the United States in 2012. There he was sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2013 for drug trafficking and money laundering .

Sathajhan Sarachandran was sentenced to 26 years in prison for attempting to buy surface-to-air missiles for the Tamil Tigers in New York .
