Federation of British Artists
The Federation of British Artists (FBA) is the umbrella organization for a total of nine British artists' associations and is based in the Mall Galleries , Carlton House Terrace 17 in London , where the nine companies of the Federation of British Artists are also housed. The aim of the FBA is to gain the public's appreciation for the visual arts and to illustrate the work of contemporary artists.
The FBA was founded in 1960 and emerged from the Art Exhibitions Bureau , which coordinated the exhibitions of various art associations. Today the FBA has over 500 artist members and has so far shown the works of more than 10,000 artists in exhibitions that are visited by over 60,000 people each year. The works submitted are selected by well-known artists. The exhibitions deal with a wide variety of painting traditions such as open-air painting , history painting , landscape painting , portrait painting and still life, or they are dedicated to certain media such as oil paint , acrylic paint , watercolor and pastel . Most of the works of art can be bought or loaned. The artists receive further support through over 100 prizes and awards, which are awarded throughout the year. In addition, the FBA companies also organize numerous workshops , tutorials , demonstrations and lectures .
