Incorrect pressing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As incorrect pressure is defined as the withdrawal of deficient production of a CD , DVD or record or the defective product itself. This deficiency relates less to the quality of the product (abnormal playback or the like) of such a product is considered defective production (Committee) rated. Rather, an incorrect compression is present if the content of the medium does not correspond to the usual or expected.

An example of a bad pressing is an edition of the album Teaser and the Firecat by Cat Stevens from 1971, in which the B-side instead of the Cat Stevens songs (which can also be expected according to the label) is entirely the B-side of the album Aqualung by Jethro Tull is pressed on. The case of a 3-CD compilation with songs by Georg Danzer published in 2011 , in which instead of two of the songs intended for the collection, two other titles are included, is also to be regarded as a misprint .

An incorrect compression can basically also be in the form of a wrong sequence of songs. Such products are not to be confused with country-specific editions of an album in which the song titles or their order or both vary. Often referred to as misprinting, but not to be rated as such, are albums that have completely correct content, but are provided with incorrect lettering or incorrectly printed labels and consequently have been sold in the wrong packaging.

Genuine misprints can be coveted rarities among collectors and in this respect are comparable to misprints on coins and misprints on postage stamps or securities.
