Teaser and the Firecat is the fifth studio album by singer and songwriter Cat Stevens . It was released in 1971. The album's biggest hit was Morning Has Broken .

history

After the successful comeback with the albums Mona Bone Jakon and Tea for the Tillerman in 1970, Cat Stevens became even more popular when Hal Ashby used numerous Stevens titles for the film Harold and Maude .

His album Teaser and the Firecat , released in September 1971, sold even better than the previous albums . The album reached number two in the US and number three in Great Britain. In Germany, the album and the most successful single, Morning Has Broken, did not make it into the top ten of the charts, but instead reached number 23.

On the cover of the album you can see a boy with a blue hat and a fiery red cat. The drawings are by Cat Stevens. In 1972 he published a children's book with stories of these two as the main characters. The book has not been reprinted since the mid-1970s.

The album was re-released in 2000 in a version remastered by Ted Jensen. Another re-release as a double CD (Deluxe Edition) took place in 2008 with written comments on the album from Stevens, Alun Davies and Paul Samwell-Smith. The CD has been remastered again and the bonus CD contains demo and live versions under the artist names Cat Stevens and Yusuf.
