New Masters is the second studio album by the singer and songwriter Cat Stevens and was released in 1967.

history

The second album by Cat Stevens (now Yusuf) was released in December 1967, nine months after his debut album Matthew & Son . The album is the only one that failed to make it onto the charts, so it was a commercial failure.

The most popular track on the album The First Cut Is the Deepest became a hit thanks to the interpretation by PP Arnold , while the single Kitty only reached number 47 in the UK charts.

The recordings for the album took place in October 1967 (Decca Studios, London); again with Mike Hurst as producer, to whom Cat Stevens also blamed the bad sales, since he saw the album as overproduced because of the orchestrations caused by Hurst.
