Numbers (A Pythagorean Theory Tale) is the ninth studio album by singer and songwriter Cat Stevens .

history

The eleventh album (including live and compilation albums) by Cat Stevens (now Yusuf) was released in November 1975. It is the first and last concept album that he released under his stage name Cat Stevens. The story of the album is about a distant planet called Polygor , on which only ten people live in a castle and distribute numbers throughout the universe - one of them is the main character Jzero , who through his wisdom represents himself as a prophet.

The story of the album was realized with the help of British humorists Chris Bryant and Allan Scott; the drawings for the album came from Stevens. The commercial success of the album did not materialize, so that for the first time since Tea for the Tillerman in the USA Cat Stevens could no longer place in the top ten (USA: 13th place; GB: no placement; Federal Republic of Germany 20th place). The decoupled singles Banapple Gas and Land O'Freelove & Goodbye also sold poorly.

The album was re-released in 2001 in a version remastered by Ted Jensen.
