Feinwerkbau (abbr. FWB ) is a German manufacturer of sporting weapons , in particular air rifles and pistols and small bore rifles and pistols. The company is based in Oberndorf am Neckar .

Company history

The company was founded after the Second World War by chief engineers Karl Westinger and Ernst Altenburger and entered in the commercial register in 1951. Up until 1960 Feinwerkbau Westinger & Altenburger mainly manufactured precision parts for other companies. In addition, an electromechanical calculating machine was developed , which was manufactured in large numbers by the Olympia-Werke in Wilhelmshaven . By 1975 all Olympic calculating machines in Oberndorf am Neckar were developed to the point of series production.

After the re-establishment of the German Rifle Federation in 1956, the two company founders with experience in gun manufacture developed the first side-cocking competition air rifle with a rigid line of sight and a patented return system for a vibration-free shot, which was brought onto the market at the beginning of the 1960s. Feinwerkbau has also been selling air pistols since 1965.

Due to the great demand for sporting weapons from Feinwerkbau, it was possible to enlarge the company, optimize production and, above all, advance the further development of sporting weapons. In line with the development of sporting weapons, spring-driven air guns were followed by CO 2 rifles and pistols, as well as sporting weapons with pre-compressed air and today with compressed air. The sport pistol AW93 with recoil damping and a complete range of small caliber rifles round off the company's sporting weapons range. Feinwerkbau still produces individual parts and small series for other companies today.

Today the company has around 140 employees and is managed by the third generation.

Since January 1st, 2016 the company has been operating under the name "Feinwerkbau GmbH".

Products

The company's regular program includes sporting weapons with which successes are regularly achieved in many national and international competitions. The 2012 Olympic champion, the Chinese Yi Siling , shoots with a Feinwerkbau air rifle.

In 2002 FWB brought their first muzzle loading weapon , the underhammer pistol “History No. 1 ”, on the market. Feinwerkbau also produced the gunpowder revolver “History No. 2 "ago. Originally, this faithful reproduction is the six-shooter of Rogers & Spencer in an edition of 3000 pieces to 1998 for the company sporting goods king in Bretzfeld-Geddelsbach produced, the production ran over the weapons list and the weapons book by King and was (to the company HEGE armory Überlingen) as a wholesaler for marketing. The model for this percussion revolver was manufactured by the Americans Rogers and Spencer in the middle of the 19th century.

The current (2014) current air rifle series is called "Model 800" and has been in Feinwerkbau's range since 2012. Since mid-2014 Feinwerkbau has also been offering a break-barrel air rifle again, which is operated by tensioning a spring. This "model sport" is primarily intended for the ambitious recreational shooter.
