history

In his workshop in his parents' house in Absam , Johann Felder founded the company Johann Felder junior together with his wife in 1956 . and in the same year presented the first woodworking machines at trade fairs in Vienna and Innsbruck. Due to the insufficient supply of cast parts, an in-house foundry was set up in the garden of the house in 1958.

In 1961, Salzbergstrasse 26 in Absam became the machine manufacturer's new location. First exports to Switzerland follow in 1962, one year later the first series production of the BU 4 combination machine was achieved. An automatic molding sand plant was integrated into the 2000 m² foundry in 1975; two years later, machine assembly was outsourced to a new factory building for a further expansion of the Company. In 1979 the machine manufacturer installed the first CNC milling machine.

In 1982 the company with 65 employees relocated again and found the current company location in Hall in Tirol in what is now the Hall-Thaur industrial zone . With Felder Scandinavia , Johann Felder founded the first subsidiary in Stockholm in 1988. With the new production possibilities, the production of the world's first combination machines with format sliding table followed in 1990.

In 1993 Felder opened its new EURO logistics center and founded the first Felder factory branch, which started operations in Upper Austria in 1995 . In 1997, Felder launched the Hammer brand for the low-price segment. The new assembly plant 2 should further increase capacity. Another brand launch followed in 2001: Format4, a premium brand for trade and industry. In the following years, the delivery program was expanded to include CNC machining centers, edge banding machines, panel dividing saws and hot plate presses.

In 2000, the sole proprietorship Johann Felder was converted into a limited partnership and through the participation of family members to the family company Felder  KG. At the beginning of the new millennium, the new powder coating plant was built and put into operation. In 2005 the logistics center was expanded. In 2007, with the expansion of assembly hall 7 and flight roof 4.5, the operating area was again increased by 11,300 m². In 2009 the first CNC and edge banding machines developed and produced entirely in Hall rolled off the production line. With the new production halls 1 and 8 as well as the expansion of the office and logistics complex with over 1,600 m² of additional office space and a 30-meter-high high-bay warehouse, the usable area of the plant was expanded to over 81,000 m² by 2018.

In 2019 Otto Mayer Maschinenfabrik, with its production site in Lombach, Germany, became part of the Felder Group and brought an expanded range of panel dividing saws for wood, metal and plastic processing into the global service and sales network.
