activity

The field mission for human rights in Crimea is a loose association of human rights activists from Russia, Ukraine and other successor states of the Soviet Union. Since spring 2014, it has been preparing regular reports ( monitoring ) on human rights violations in Crimea since the occupation by Russian military units and the subsequent incorporation into the territory of the Russian Federation. She mainly reported on discrimination against the Crimean Tatars , who had publicly spoken out against the integration. She observed and wrote about unfair trials of some Crimean Tatars.

Critical citizens, journalists and bloggers were exposed to strong personal pressure from the new Russian power and mostly left the peninsula. Members of the group were also summoned and threatened several times by the Russian secret service.

On July 7, 2015, the field mission for human rights in Crimea was proposed by the Federation Council of the Russian Federation for registration as an “ undesirable foreign organization ”, as were 11 other US, Polish and Ukrainian organizations. On September 9th, she announced a change in the structures, which practically means the cessation of previous activities. On October 28, 2015, it published its last statement to date, in which it called for the use of international observers by the OSCE and other international organizations to monitor human rights in Crimea.

She referred to the work of other non-governmental organizations such as the Human Rights Initiative Group in Crimea .
