Felix Lorenz (born January 4, 1967 in Lauenburg ) is a German biologist who specializes in malacology (molluscology).

Live and act

In his earliest childhood, Lorenz began collecting conchylia (shell and snail shells). He inherited this passion, which would later shape his professional life, from his parents. In 1984, at the age of only 17, an academic paper of his, entitled A New Umbilia by Keppel Bay, was published in the Conchylia Club Conchylia Information . Shortly thereafter, his second publication A new Cypraeovula from South Africa (Gastropoda, Cypraeovulinae) appeared in another journal. The subject then dealt with, in particular the family of the Cypraeidae ( cowrie snails ), has been the subject of his research ever since.

He studied biology at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen and received his doctorate there with a thesis on the ring cowrie ( Monetaria annulus ), a species of cowrie shell that occurs in tropical waters.

Publications

Lorenz regularly publishes work, among others in the following journals: Schriften zur Malakozoologie , La Conchiglia , Conchylia , and Visaya . He is the first to describe a variety of marine snails and the author of several books.
