Rock formation on the Plenkerberg

The rock formation on the Plenkerberg is a natural monument in the Mühlviertel nature park in the municipality of Rechberg in the district of Perg , which has been registered in the Upper Austrian nature reserve since 1984 .

The rock formation is a natural formation made up of several groups of coarse-grained granite blocks made of Weinsberg granite , which, due to the petrographic structure of this igneous rock, has wool-sack -like forms.

The natural formation is located about 700 meters southeast of the center of the municipality of Rechberg on the highest elevation of the Plenkerberg at 706 meters. The Karl Weichselbaumer lookout tower, which is up to eight meters high, is a wooden structure, the way it is executed does not significantly disturb the landscape.

The natural monument and observation tower are integrated into the local network of hiking trails.
