The Femina Politica is a journal of feminist political science . The publication appears in a print version and in an electronic edition. The journal has a peer-reviewed process.

Content

The aim of the magazine is to give feminist thinking a language. It is the only German-language specialist journal for feminist politics and political science.

Since 1997 Femina Politica has been analyzing and commenting on political science and current political issues from a feminist perspective, reporting on research results and university politics , projects and new publications.

aims

To supplement and reformulate political theoretical approaches is one of the tasks of feminist political science, because the exclusion of women and the de-thematization and marginalization of the gender category are still considered constitutive for mainstream political theory and practice.

The relationship between feminist theory and practice poses a particular challenge. Activists in particular claim to be closely related. Therefore Femina Politica sees itself as an information and communication organ for politically and politically committed women and it is also part of Femina Politica's self-image to guarantee a balanced relationship between theoretical and practical topics.

history

In 1991 a group of female political scientists from Berlin founded the working group “Politics and Gender” in the German Association for Political Science (DVPW) and the network of women working in political science and politics.

Since 1992, the Berlin regional group of the network has initially published a twice-yearly circular for women politicians, which addressed women inside and outside the universities and enabled an exchange of information and discussion on feminist and political topics beyond the academic discipline.

With the renaming of the circular to “Femina Politica - Journal for Feminist Political Science” and the redesign of the layout in a journal format with ISSN, an important step in professionalization was taken in 1997. Femina Politica is the first feminist political science journal in German-speaking countries. Femina Politica has been published by Barbara Budrich since 2005 . Since 2012, the journal has been supported by an advisory board made up of 13 researchers - including Nikita Dhawan , Birgit Sauer , Andrea Maihofer - from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the USA.
