Fenix TX is a Founded in 1995, American four-piece punk - rock band from Houston , Texas , which was originally called Riverfenix. This name was based on the American actor and musician River Phoenix , but had to be changed due to legal disputes.

Band history

The first EP called GBOH was released on Fuzzgun Records in 1996. An album called Riverfenix followed a year later on Drive-Thru Records. After the name change, Fenix * TX also released their album Riverfenix again, which was also renamed Fenix * TX. In addition, the songs were slightly revised and two songs were exchanged. It was released in 1999 by MCA Records, where they were signed that year. After the release of their second album Fenix TX , the band split from their drummer Donnie Reyes, whose position was taken by Damon DeLaPaz (previously guitarist of the band). The band's new guitarist was James Love, who was replaced by Chris Lewis a year later. The third album, Lechuza , sold over 600,000 copies (gold status), but the band split up in 2002 due to a creative disagreement.

After the split, bassist Adam Lewis and drummer Damon DeLaPaz formed a new band together called Sing the Body Electric , while singer / guitarist Will Salazar and guitarist Chris Lewis formed the band Denver Harbor .

In 2005 they announced their reunion and released a live album called Purple Reign in Blood , which accompanied them through the USA and Japan. A year before the official reunification, Fenix * TX had already played two live shows that were filmed by Drive-Thru Records and were to be released on DVD, which curiously never happened. In 2009 the band got back and announced that they will play in the original Riverfenix line up again from now on. In addition, the band played a European tour in October 2010, which included France, Germany and England.
