Window (dice game)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fenster oder Fensterln is a simple dice and arithmetic game with three dice and a dice cup for any number of players with similarities to dice poker games . It is played in different variations as stained glass windows , the cell windows , Bauer window , Council window or all windows are called. The game is also regularly included in the relevant rulebooks in game collections .

Style of play

The various window games are rolled once in turn; any number of players can play. Only dice with a special number are scored in the games, the remaining dice are not included in the scoring. The winner is whoever has the most points after an agreed number of laps.

Church window

Only sixes are scored in the church window . If a player has rolled a six, he gets six points written down. In the case of a simple double of six, i.e. if two dice show a six, the player receives 18 points and with a double of doubles (three sixes) he receives 36 points.

More windows

In other window games, individual dice may also be rotated; the opposite side of the value rolled is turned upwards. In the cell window (counting only two) every five can be counted as a two by turning it. All of the following games are played according to this pattern:

All Windows

In addition to the "individual windows", the games can also be combined. Usually the games Cell Windows , Peasant Window and Church Window are combined into one game called All Windows . In this game, each player rolls the dice three times and has to decide with the first throw whether it should be counted as a church window , cell window or farmer window . He makes the same decision on the second roll for the two remaining window types and the third roll is predetermined by the choices made with the remaining window. In this version, the church window can also be rotated.

Cell window : 0 points (no two or five)
Farmer window : 4 points (a three that can be turned)

Alternatively, a window can be defined for each throw so that only cell windows count for the first throw , only farmer windows for the second and only church windows for the third .
