etymology

The word Pasch is etymologically derived from the old French dice game called Passe-dix (= exceed ten). It is played with three dice. You win if you roll more than ten points if two or all three dice have the same number. The Dutch word for dice game, namely paschendise or passediesje , is based on this name. This is how the Pasch got its German meaning today .
