Feodosian

The fedoseevtsy , Theodosians or Fedossejewzy ( Russian Федосеевцы , Wiss. Transliteration Fedoseevcy ) are a priester loose denomination of Believers from the north-west Russia that after its founder Feodosy Wassiljew ( Феодосий Васильев , Feodosiy Vasil'ev is named) (1661-1711), and the end was founded in the 17th century.

She had an uncompromising attitude towards the autocracy and the Orthodox Church and lived a strict asceticism .

In the 1820s / 30s, some of the believers joined the Pormorski Tolk ( поморский толк ) and Jedinowerije ( единоверие ). For a long time, the spiritual center was the community of the Preobrazhenskoe Cemetery in Moscow, founded in 1771 by the merchant Ilya Alexejewitsch Kowylin (1731–1809) .

Feodosians were widespread in the Russian governorates of Kaunas , Suwałki , Vilnius and Vitebsk, as well as in Riga.
