Ferdinand Brunner (politician)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ferdinand Brunner (born May 12, 1886 in Linz , † October 6, 1945 in Schärding ) was an Austrian tax officer and politician.

Brunner came to Schärding as a tax clerk in 1918 and was already mayor of the city and a member of the state parliament for the Social Democratic Party in 1919 . He was also a committee member of Sparkasse Schärding.

After a year as mayor, the city was missing 160,000 kroner and the Sparkasse was 419,000 kroner; Brunner had transferred these funds to his own accounts. As a result, he was forced to resign and was sentenced to 15 months' imprisonment, despite having redressed his wrongdoings. The exact date of his resignation as a member of the state parliament is not known, but in March 1921 he is referred to as a “former member of the parliament”.
