Television center

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A television center or broadcasting center is a building complex that enables the production of television programs and the broadcasting of one or more television programs.

Indispensable facilities of a television center are:

  • Control rooms in which all incoming and outgoing video and audio signals are "managed"
  • Television studios with electronic cameras
  • Image and sound control rooms with image mixers, font generators, effects units and sound mixers
  • MAZ systems
  • Image and Tonbearbeitungsanlagen the compilation of play items editing suite
  • Voice recording studios for commentary and speaker translation
  • terrestrial as well as satellite and cable transmission and reception systems

To operate a television transmitter , additional facilities are required, but they do not necessarily have to be at the location of the broadcasting center; they can also be accommodated elsewhere or rented if required. The need also depends on the program being produced (e.g. a news channel does not need any noteworthy costume inventory ):

  • Offices for administration, editing and production processing
  • Outdoor area for possible outdoor shots
  • Fund for clothing or small props
  • Program archives
  • Equipment for operating a vehicle fleet (especially OB vans and team vehicles )

A typical example of a complete broadcasting center can be found at ZDF in Mainz-Lerchenberg , including a helicopter landing pad. However, even this center does not allow broadcasting of the ZDF on its own: the studio capacity is relatively small and only designed for daily productions, since non-current productions are practically completely created by private contract producers at various locations, see: ZDF broadcasting center .
