history

In spring 2005, Sven Seifer and Damian Copp met at an open stage jam session in their hometown of Hagen. The musicians decided to compose together and founded the Fernsucht project . After a year of intensive work on the song material, the musicians Daniele Bucco, Patrick Verspohl and the band's first drummer, Andy Bucco, joined them. The musicians played in this formation until late summer 2007. It was during this time that the first recordings of the later debut album were made.

Andy Bucco left the band in late summer 2007 and Sebastian Prillwitz took his place on drums for a short time. The work with Sebastian Prillwitz ended in spring 2008, and from then on Michael Meier and Manuel Loos shared the drummer position. On June 14, 2008, the band released the album Fernsucht on their own . In the same year at Christmas time, the unplugged EP Long Shadow - Short Days was released .

In the spring of 2009 the band began working with the Phoenix Hagen basketball club . From this collaboration came the single Aus der Asche . In addition to the original version of the song, the sound carrier also contains a version that was partially sung by the Hagen Phoenix team in the 08/09 season. At the end of 2009 the band began to record another album. At the beginning of 2011 the new permanent band members are Steffen Schmidt on drums and Dennis Turck on keys.

In August 2012, the band released a video for the first single Never More from the second album Neuland , which was released in September 2012 .

As part of the award of the 30th German Rock & Pop Prize on December 8, 2012 in Wiesbaden, the band received four prizes, including first places in the categories “Best Pop Band” and “Best German Song”.

In 2013 Fernsucht performed at the non-commercial WISPA music festival, which has existed since 1983, in Hemer- Frönsberg .
