history

Older concrete basin sealed with mastic asphalt in the Royal Botanic Gardens (Kew) , London

Water basins were initially made of stone and concrete , later sealed with pitch or mastic asphalt , small garden ponds were initially made of glass fiber reinforced plastics (GRP).

material

Nowadays, hard, stable plastics are used for prefabricated pools , for example polyethylene (HD), rigid PVC or GRP, and pond liners for above-ground pools .

Due to the manufacturing process, deep-drawn basins have different layer thicknesses, which can easily result in leaks . A minimum layer thickness should be guaranteed.
