The Buzice Fortress is located half a kilometer southwest of the village of Buzice in Okres Strakonice ( Czech Republic ).

geography

The fortress Buzice is located on the right side of the Lomnice in a wood in the Blatenská pahorkatina hill country. It was built on a low rock spur above the Mračovský creek. Towards the southwest extends the 96.34 ha large pond Buzičký rybník or Řitovíz, with which the Mračovský potok was dammed in 1810 shortly before its confluence with the Lomnice. The older Kalencov ( Kalenzow ) pond at the southern foot of the castle hill was drained at the beginning of the 19th century.

history

Little is known about the origins of the festivals. It was probably the seat of the Buzický family from Buzice since the 12th century .

It was first mentioned in writing in 1384 as the seat of the Předota von Buzice, which is documented until 1412. In 1397 his brother Pešík and between 1401 and 1412 his son Bušek were mentioned as co-owners. Other owners were Jan von Buzice between 1446 and 1480, and Bušek the Elder between 1451 and 1473. Ä. from Buzice and between 1463 and 1498 Bušek d. J. von Buzice. The Vladiken von Buzice also acquired several scattered goods in southern and central Bohemia. In 1498, Zdeniek Lev von Rosental acquired their ancestral seat and added the Buzice estate to his Blatná rule . The fortress was called desolate in 1527 .

At the end of the 16th century, the owner of the Blatná estate, Wenzel Rozdrazowsky von Rozdrazow, had the fortress converted into a granary.

From 1967 to 1168, the Buzice Fortress served as a backdrop for Hynek Bočan's film Čest a sláva .

The property is currently used as a warehouse by the fishermen from the Buzičký rybník and has been left to decay.

Buzický from Buzice

The Vladiken Buzický von Buzice are considered to be the ancestors of the Bohemian noble families Lev von Rosental , von Waldeck, von Schellenberg and von Hasenburg . Their coat of arms originally adorned a pig's head, which was later redesigned as a boar's head. They were also related to the people of Všenor.

investment

The oldest part of the two-wing complex is a ruinous, rectangular, four-story residential tower, which was probably built in the 14th century. The two-storey north and west wings were built at a later time. The inner courtyard is surrounded by walls and moats to the east and south.
