from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Festival Quadrille is a quadrille by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 341). It was first performed on October 7, 1867 in Covent Garden , London .

Remarks

The work was written on the occasion of the composer's trip to England and was originally called Promenade-Quadrille, on Popular Airs . This quadrille was composed of various English and American songs. In the London version, the work had only five parts. The quadrille part called Trenis was missing because it did not correspond to the English tradition. In Vienna, the quadrille got its current name and the missing part was added. The first performance there took place on February 3, 1870 in the Kursalon of the city park.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 6 minutes and 9 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
