Description of the area
The extensive natural monument, which was designated on March 16, 1990, is located in the midst of agricultural land on an area bounded by Kueglweg and Seedeicher Weg. The wetland is of artificial origin and was created through soil degradation for dike construction purposes. It was then prepared according to nature conservation principles . It consists of two separate bodies of water with reed and sedge zones and an adjacent wet meadow . The district placed the area under protection because of its importance as a breeding, resting and feeding biotope for numerous species of birds, as a habitat for amphibians and its function of stimulating the landscape.
