A feud ( English feud [ fju: d ] "feud") is in various special contexts an expression for a long lasting private dispute. The word meaning refers to feuds (Engl. Feuds ), medieval battles between outdoor or noble families for direct, possibly violent regulation of violations of the law without the intervention of a higher authority.

The expression Feud is used in the German-speaking world as a word taken from English only in certain contexts:

  • In wrestling , a feud is an artificial confrontation between individual wrestlers or tag teams, given in a storyline . It is staged in interviews and show fights over a long period of time.
  • In Internet forums , a verbal argument between individual forum members that is carried out over several forum posts or threads is called Feud .
  • Hip Hop: alternative name for beef .
