Lightship Elbe 2
Elbe 2 was a lightship position in front of the Elbe estuary.
From 1905 to 1974 it was at 53 ° 59 ′ 37 ″ N , 8 ° 24 ′ 51 ″ E, , approximately six nautical miles east of Elbe 1 .
The last lightship on this station, the Mayor Bartels , named after Johann Heinrich Bartels , was in this position from 1945 to 1974 and was therefore often referred to as lightship ELBE 2 . In 1984/85 the Mayor Bartels was converted into a passenger ship and has been operating under the name Atlantis since then . Her home port is Hoorn in the Netherlands.
