The Feurstein House (sometimes incorrectly referred to as the Feuerstein House ) is a listed building in the center of the Austrian town of Dornbirn . The house is located directly on the market square in the center of the city and, with its richly painted facade, is one of the most striking buildings in the town center.

history

The Johann-Luger-Haus is structurally connected to the Feurstein-Haus, although it was only subsequently built in place of the former barn of the Feurstein-Haus. The Feurstein House itself faces the parish church of St. Martin and is ornamentally painted. It was built in 1611 in place of a previous medieval building on the same site and expanded in the 18th century. In the meantime, in the 19th century, the Adler Gasthaus was located in the centrally located building. The Feurstein House got its name from the merchant Raimund Feurstein , who ran a shop in the building on the market square in the 19th century.

The characteristic neo-renaissance painting that characterizes the current facade of the Feurstein House was created in the course of a renovation in 1897, adhesive roofs to protect the windows give the building a bourgeois look. The building was last restored in 1951 and 1981. Today the Feurstein-Haus houses a shop again on the ground floor, which has opened its shop window on the market square.
