The Italian aircraft engine Fiat AS.3 was a piston engine with 12 cylinders.

history

Fiat developed the AS.3 as an enlarged version of the Fiat AS.2 racing engine . It was used in the Macchi M.52 at the Schneider Trophy in 1927 . At this first international appearance, all three M.52s were eliminated. It was not until 1928 that the further developed M.52R was able to achieve second place at the Schneider Trophy 1928 with the Fiat AS.3 - behind the new Supermarine S.6 , but ahead of the previous year's winner, the Supermarine S.5 .
