Fideal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A fideal ( Scottish Gaelic : fidealadhadh meaning "confused, irregular", also Scottish Gaelic fideil meaning "unravel, twist") is a mythological evil aquatic creature that allegedly lives in the freshwater lakes of the Scottish highlands . It is the personification of the entwining marsh grasses and aquatic plants that grow in Loch na Fideil near Gairloch in the Northwest Highlands (until 1974 Ross and Cromarty ). The Fideal belongs to the Fuath and is also related to the Each Uisge and the Kelpie .
