Ross and Cromarty ( Scottish Gaelic Ros agus Cromba ) was an administrative county in the north of Scotland from 1890 to 1975 . The administrative seat was the city of Dingwall . Ross and Cromarty covered an area of ​​7,971 km².

history

The traditional Scottish counties of Ross-shire and Cromartyshire merged in 1889 to form the administrative county of Ross and Cromarty. In 1975 the administrative county was dissolved and divided between the District of Ross and Cromarty of the Highland region and the new administrative district of Western Isles . In 1996 all districts of the Highland region were dissolved and the Highland Council Area was formed from the region .
