Fileteado

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fileteado is an artistic style of painting with stylized lines, flowers and tendrils, which is typical for the Argentine capital Buenos Aires . Paintings of this kind can be found on various objects, including on houses, shop signs, taxis and public buses or on album covers, as the album Haughty Melodic by Mike Doughty (2005). The logo of Wikimania 2009 in Buenos Aires was designed in fileteado style.

Filetes (paintings in the Fileteado style) are characterized by colorful ornaments, typically symmetry and poetic expressions, proverbs and aphorisms that can be humorous or mischievous, soulful or philosophical. They have been part of the Porteños culture since the beginning of the 20th century.
