Flatschach branch church
The Flatschach branch church in the municipality of Glanegg belongs to the parish of St. Gandolf and is consecrated to St. Lawrence .
The church was first mentioned in 1570 as a branch church of Tigring . In the church, which was formerly under the patronage of Our Lady , no more services were celebrated from 1932 due to the increasing decline. The cemetery surrounding the church was abandoned in 1920. In 1986/88 there was a complete restoration and re-opening.
description
The church is a small Gothic complex from the 14th century with a retracted, just closed choir. The roof turret is completely covered with stone slabs. An original Gothic window with a tracery frame has been preserved on the front wall of the choir . The south-facing windows were renewed in the Baroque and 19th century. A late Gothic crucifixion from the 15th century can be seen on the southern outer wall next to the Christophorus fresco. One enters the church through a grooved, ogival west portal.
Inside, the nave has an open roof structure, the square choir has a flat ceiling with stencil painting from the 16th century.
The neo-baroque altar in the church was built in 1880. The original high altar was moved to the Tigring church. The church had a bell from the 11th century. This oldest bell in Carinthia is kept in the Diocesan Museum " Gurk Treasury "; the church received a copy.
