The Tigring parish church is dedicated to St. Egydius . It stands elevated above the village of Tigring in the municipality of Moosburg . According to the document, the parish was founded in 1136 and the church was consecrated. The branch churches of Faning, Freudenberg and Nussberg belong to this parish.

Building description

The current church is a Gothic building from the 14th century with structural changes from the Baroque period . Multi-stepped buttresses support the choir with a five-eighth end . The fortified upper storey of the choir and tower, probably added at a later date in the choir, bear witness to the church's former defenses. The south-facing sacristy tower with ogival sound openings and loopholes is crowned by a pointed helmet. The outside staircase on the east wall of the tower is marked 1797. On the south side of the nave, the baroque Antonius chapel with a dome roof and lantern was added in 1670. You enter the church from the west through a profiled pointed arch portal.

A flat, baroque plastered ceiling with a ceiling painting of the Holy Trinity above the organ loft and the Annunciation to Maria above the middle of the nave (around 1845, attributed to Christoph Brandstätter) stretches over the Saallanghaus . The organ gallery with balustrade and organ bay stands on wooden balusters. The high, pointed triumphal arch connects the nave with the slightly retracted Gothic choir. The ribs of the groin vault in the choir were chopped off. The cartridge marked GEVT at the entrance to the Antonius Chapel refers to Georg Ernst von Teutenhofen, the builder of the chapel. The dome of the Antonius Chapel is equipped with stucco from the time it was built (1670). The sacristy is located on the first floor of the tower , above it an oratorio set up at the end of the 18th century , for which a window was broken out into the choir.

In 1948 frescoes from the second half of the 14th century were uncovered on the north wall . Starting from the left is the depiction of St. Christopher , the fall of Lucifer by the Archangel Michael , the creation of Eve out of the body of Adam, Adam and Eve under the tree of knowledge and the burial of Christ.

Facility

The high altar with cartilage , built around 1680, consists of an aedicule above a high base, a small aedicule between volutes as a top, side ears and sacrificial portals from later times. The altar bears the statue of St. Egydius, the upper image represents a mercy seat .

The altar panel of the left side altar, made around 1680, shows an enthroned Madonna with lilies, with the coat of arms of the Teutenhofen-Lamberg family on the top. The right side altar is from the beginning, the pulpit from the last quarter of the 18th century. The altar in the Antonius Chapel, built around 1660, was renewed in 1933 after a fire.

The octagonal, Gothic font made of light marble has a wood-carved, black and gold-framed lid, from the 17th century, which bears the gold-framed head of John the Baptist . A crucifix carved around 1600 hangs on the north wall of the nave .

Karner

The Romanesque charnel house in the cemetery south of the church is now used as a mortuary. The two-storey round building with a small semicircular apse and a Steinplattl-covered conical roof dates from the middle of the 12th century.
