The Kühweg branch church in the Hermagor parish belongs to the Mitschig parish and is dedicated to St. Athanasius . A church in Kühweg was first mentioned in 1485, at that time it was under the patronage of St. Nonnosus .

The church is a late Gothic complex with baroque changes. A wooden roof turret with a pointed helmet and a bell from the end of the 13th century rises above the nave . The drafted choir ends in a five-eighth closing . The pillar vestibule the width of the ship is marked 1635 on the roof structure. The ogival, chamfered west portal has a door with a Gothic wooden lock.

The ceiling painting from 1774 in the flat-roofed nave shows the admission of St. Athanasius into heaven, at his feet with intercessors and in the background Malenthein Castle. A pointed, chamfered triumphal arch connects the nave with the choir, in which a ribbed vault rests on consoles. The evangelist symbols on the choir walls are by the same painter as the ceiling painting in the ship. The interior of the church is illuminated by composite arched windows. The high altar from the late 17th century bears a renewed figure of the church saint Athanasius, the side altar from the beginning of the 18th century an auxiliary image of Mary , a copy after Lucas Cranach . The rural pulpit was built at the beginning of the 18th century.
