The St. Elisabeth branch church is the Catholic village church of Sengenthal (Upper Palatinate). The modern church was built in 1966/67.

The church building association founded by Tilly Behringer in 1961 collected almost 75,000 DM. On December 13, 1965, Hans Walter Behringer broke the first sod. The foundation stone for the church building took place on October 16, 1966. Abbot Paulus Heinz from the Plankstetten monastery consecrated it a year later on November 19, 1967 and made it subordinate to the patronage of St. Elisabeth . A parsonage was originally planned in Sengenthal, but this construction was never carried out.

According to plans by the executing architect Franz Xaver Gärtner, a 20 m × 20 m concrete cube was created from prefabricated parts in the center of the village. In the interior, the parish is grouped in an open circle around the central altar with relics of Saints Verecundus and Viktorina. Light sources are four plexiglass domes inserted in the roof.

When designing the space, the architect was guided by the results of the Second Vatican Council: The altar is the center of the church. In the church one should be shielded from the outside world, it should be a refuge for the hunted of our time, said Abbot Paul in the sermon at the consecration.

To the east of the church stands a slender bell tower about 30 meters high. In 1977 he received three bells (h´-d´´-e´´) from the Heidelberg foundry and in 1978 a tower clock.

The church of Sengenthal is a branch of the parish Reichertshofen .
