Filial church St. Peter ob Gurk

The Roman Catholic branch church of St. Peter ob Gurk is 938 meters above sea level in the municipality of Strasbourg . The church, first mentioned in 1179, is Gurk's only branch church .

Building description

The church is a small Romanesque building with a retracted, rectangular choir. The remains of the former apse can be seen on the end wall of the choir . The wooden roof turret is crowned by a lantern. The late Gothic porch on the barrel vaulted ground floor is open to the west and has late Gothic windows on the upper floor.

The flat-roofed nave is lit on the south side by three Romanesque windows. The coat of arms relief of Provost Wilhelm Welzer von Eberstein (1487 to 1518) is attached to the round-arched triumphal arch . The late Gothic ribbed vault in the choir yoke also dates from this period .

Facility

The baroque altar from the first quarter of the 18th century bears a late Gothic carved figure of Saint Peter from around 1510. The baroque statues of Saints Rochus and Lucia stand on the side on consoles . The top is a painting of God the Father from 1911. A late Gothic crucifix from the beginning of the 16th century hangs above the altar .

Other furnishings in the church include baroque statuettes of Saints Vitus and Oswald and a canvas painting with the stoning of Saint Stephen from the 18th century, as well as a donor picture from 1697.
