Filippo Azzaiolo
Filippo Azzaiolo (* around 1535 in Bologna ; † after 1569 there (?)) Was an Italian singer and composer .
Little is known about his career. It can be assumed that he was active as a singer in his hometown from around 1557 and that he spent his entire life there.
In his time, the villotta , a well-composed four-line folk song with a dance-like character, which probably originated in Venice , was very popular in northern Italy . Azzaiolo created three volumes of these works, along with a few others, which are referred to therein as Villotte alla Padoana .
