Filippo Venuti

Filippo Venuti (* 1531 in Cortona ; † 1587 ) was an Italian translator, Latinist, Italianist and lexicographer.

life and work

In 1562, Venuti published a very successful Italian-Latin dictionary that played a role in the early lexicography of Italian. He translated Cicero, Horace and Virgil from Latin into Italian.
