Filla Island is a 5 km long and rocky island off the Ingrid Christensen coast of the East Antarctic Princess Elisabeth Land . It is the largest of the Rauer Islands and is located in the northern part of this group of islands .

Norwegian cartographers mapped them using aerial photographs from the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 . They gave a supposedly much larger island with a rugged coastline the descriptive name Filla (Norwegian for scraps ). In 1952, the American John H. Roscoe determined from aerial photographs of Operation Highjump (1946–1947) that the island named by the Norwegians was actually a large number of small islands. He transferred the Norwegian name in a modified form to the island described here.
