Editor-in-chief of the cameraman was Hans-Jürgen Weber from 1957 until his death in 1993. With the issue 5/1977 the name was changed to Film & TV Kameramann . I. The focus is on field reports, interviews with practitioners, test reports on technical equipment and market overviews. Basic knowledge on individual topics such as electricity on the set, copier technology, original sound on the set, RAW data, 3D production, digital lab, blow-up is conveyed in specials. In addition, technical collection sheets dealing with professional camera models and other technical topics are published annually as part of the booklet.

Student Camera Award

Since 1998, at the International Festival of the Munich Film Schools , the Film & TV Cameraman has given the Student Camera Award to young image designers.

Cooperation with festivals

Since 1998 there has been a media partnership with the German Camera Prize Cologne, which honors outstanding achievements in the field of camera work for film and television. Since 1990 stage and non-stage editing performances have also been awarded. Film & TV Kameramann undertakes journalistic support for the German Camera Prize.

Since it was founded in 1993, Film & TV Kameramann has supported and accompanied the Camerimage film festival in Łódź, Poland, at which primarily cameramen and women are awarded for their work. The competition films are invited to this festival because of their artistically demanding image design.

Resurgence

By replacing the entire editorial team at the end of 2015, the publisher reacted to conceptual and editorial weaknesses and also made relevant content digitally available on the website. There were Personas drawn up to help now to know users' needs more accurately and thus to optimize the content of magazine and website. In terms of data, the Google analysis software Searchmetrics has shown an increase in the search engine optimization visibility of kameramann.de since the restart. The cameraman tries to be a mouthpiece for the cameramen and implements appropriate topics.
