The Lapland Reindeer Dog or Finnish Lapland Shepherd Dog , Finnish Lapinporokoira , is a breed of dog from Finland recognized by the FCI ( FCI Group 5, Section 3, Standard No. 284 ) , which is counted as a Lapphund .
Origin and history
Dogs of this type have been used by the rags and seeds to herd reindeer for centuries . Until the 1950s, no distinction was made between the Lapland Reindeer Dog and the Finnish Lapphund . In 1966 it was decided to split the breeding of these dogs into the two breeds "Lapland Reindeer Dog " and "Finnish Lapphund" based on their different phenotypes .

The Lapland Reindeer Dog is used in northern Scandinavia as a herding dog to herd the reindeer. It is also used as a companion dog .
