Fiqh Council of North America

The Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) in the United States of America is a body of well-known Islamic scholars formed in 1986 to advise Muslims on the application of Sharia law in a North American context.

Muzammil H. Siddiqi , its former chairman, was "on behalf of all members of the Fiqh Council of North America," one of the 138 signatories of the open letter a common word between us and you ( Engl. A Common Word Between Us and You ), the personalities of Islam to "Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ..." (October 13, 2007).

“So there were good reasons that prompted the top Muslim cleric in the US Army, Major Abdul-Rasheed Muhammed , to seek the highest advice before the invasion of Afghanistan as to whether Muslims may wage war against Muslims. The Muslim Fiqh Council of North America issued a fatwa that this was permitted: "All Muslims must unite against those who terrorize the innocent and those who allow civilians to be killed without justification."
