First Telecom

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

First Telecom is a telephone company based in Frankfurt am Main . As a subscriber and connection network operator, it offers telecommunications services for private and business customers. As part of the liberalization of the German telecommunications market, First Telecom became known as a competitor of Deutsche Telekom for cheap international calls and calling cards. Today the company's focus is on the business customer market and offers service numbers, voice applications and payment systems.

First Telecom GmbH now also includes First Communication GmbH, Payment United GmbH and, since 2016, the call-by-call providers 01083.com GmbH and Tellfon GmbH.

history

First Telecom was founded in 1994 in the United Kingdom by Marc Citron and Mark Daeche. Expansion to mainland Europe began in the summer of 1997 with the establishment of branches in Germany and France.

In 2000, the Scottish company Atlantic Telecom took over the company and introduced voice and data communications with solutions primarily for small and medium-sized companies. The call-by-call and preselection offers in Germany were retained.

The listed net mobile AG took a 55% stake in the company in 2006 and increased it to 100% in 2007.

At the turn of the year 2015/2016 net mobile AG sold its operational activities in the Voice Solutions division. In the course of the management buy-out, Managing Director Björn Reiter took over First Telecom GmbH and its subsidiaries.

With the allocation of the number for directory inquiries 11830, First Telecom 2014 is entering the market for telephone directory assistance. In addition to the classic subscriber information, the 11830 offers a transfer service, a local and area search and the sending of phone numbers via SMS.

In 2016, the Telekom Control Commission (TKK), an Austrian authority responsible for regulating the telecommunications market, carried out a determination procedure in accordance with Section 24a (2) TKG in Austria on the basis of several notifications of use. It was found that First Telecom GmbH "by calling users of public telephone services in Austria and misleading them to call back the number [...] under false pretenses against § 118 Paragraph 1 Z 3 in conjunction with § 117 Paragraph 1 and § 117 para 3 (KEM-V 2009) "and thus violated the requirements for the permissible" forms of application for services "(according to §§117, 118 KEM-V 2009). As a consequence, all communications network operators in Austria, according to First Telecom, have been imposed by the TKK on an unlimited payment stop for the individual phone numbers concerned.

On 10 February 2020, published Bundesnetzagentur an arrangement that the First Telecom their telephone information by calling 11830 must switch off and also prohibits the billing and Inkassierung of services offered. She is referring to investigations which had shown that First Telecom had violated the transparency requirement both in the application of the teleservice number and in the referral of its customers. Specifically, connection prices were not specified.

Company profile

First Telecom offers service numbers, voice applications and payment systems internationally. In Germany, the company and its subsidiaries have self-operated voice networks; abroad it cooperates with various carrier partners. The voice applications are operated in our own data center. In addition to the TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) and NGN (Next Generation Network) voice networks, the ACD (Automatic Call Distribution), IVR (Interactive Voice Response) and ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) systems form the basis for this .

The solutions serve to reduce costs in the call center by automating and optimizing call flows or billing value-added services via the telephone bill.

First Telecom has interests in First Communication, Payment United, Tellfon and 01083.com.
