The Fischel was a Swiss measure in the canton of Valais . It was a measure of volume and area at the same time .

volume

The Fischel was a measure of grain .

  • 1 Fischel (old) = 4 bowls = 25 liters
  • 1 Fischel (new) = 4 bowls = 20 liters

In other places (e.g. Naters ) the Fischel could be 16 to 16.8 liters.

surface

The area measure was

  • 1 Fischel = 156 fathoms = 575 square meters
  • Exceptions 1 Fischel = 156 fathoms = 592 square meters, later 600 square meters
