Fishing exam

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Proof of fishing expertise is provided through a successfully passed fishing test (also known as fishing test, fishing test, fishing test or sport fishing test). This expertise is required in many states or countries for nature and animal protection reasons in order to be allowed to fish there.

Germany

If it is passed, it entitles you to apply for a fishing license . This is a prerequisite for acquiring a fishing permit ( water license), which is issued by the holder of the fishing rights for the body of water in which one would like to fish legally.

The procedure and content of the fishing test are a matter for the individual countries and can therefore vary.
In Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg in particular, knowledge is queried very extensively and in detail, but also in other countries depending on the perspective.
It is theoretical and has an additional practical part in some federal states.

Example of North Rhine-Westphalia

The theoretical part consists of 60 written questions from the 6 subject areas:

A. General ichthyology (this includes knowledge of the physique and lifestyle of the native fish as well as fish diseases),
B. Special fish knowledge (includes knowledge of species as well as closed seasons and dimensions ),
C. Hydrology and fish enclosures,
D. Nature and animal protection,
E. Device knowledge,
F. Law Studies.

Passing the theoretical part of the exam is a prerequisite for admission to the practical part . In the first part, the examinee has to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of the species on the basis of 49 panels of the native fish, lampreys and crabs, in the second part he has to assemble a certain fishing tackle from 10 different tasks and add the other necessary accessories.

effect

The successful fishing test is generally valid for life.
The submission of the fishing test certificate is a prerequisite for applying for a fishing license at the Lower Fisheries Authority or the municipality / city administration; the exhibition is based on the regulations of the federal state in which it is issued. This also applies to the period of validity, which depending on the federal state can be limited or unlimited (lifelong). Usually, similar to hunting law, rules apply that provide for refusal, revocation, declaration of - possibly temporary - invalidity or the confiscation of the license after fish poaching, damage to hydraulic structures or fishing facilities or violations of water, fishing, animal welfare or nature conservation law without this covering the certificate about the fishing exam.

Austria

In Austria, when applying for a fishing permit for the first time, proof of successful completion of the written fishing examination must be provided. The subjects of the fishing examination are:

  • Fish lore and fish enclosure
  • Water and biotope science
  • Animal welfare, fishing practice, treatment of caught fish
  • Legislation (fishing, water law, nature conservation law, as far as protection, maintenance and care of local communities are regulated)

Persons who have successfully completed relevant vocational training or equivalent training in another federal state are exempt from the obligation to take the examination.
