Fisk University
The Fisk University ( Fisk University ) in Nashville is a private university for African Americans , founded 1866th Its previous name was The Fisk Freed Colored School .
In 1930 Fisk University was the first African American educational institution to be recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges . The university is named after General Clinton B. Fisk (1828–1890), who campaigned for the desegregation. At Fisk University there are currently (as of 2018) 805 study places. The university is known, among other things, for promoting the African American musical tradition.
