Gaston Franco (born February 4, 1944 in Roquebillière , Alpes-Maritimes ) is a French politician of the Union pour un mouvement populaire (UPM).

Life

Franco studied political science . From 1985 to 2008 he was a member of the General Council of the Départements Alpes-Maritimes and served as Vice President from 1991 to 1994. He has been Mayor of Saint-Martin-Vésubie in the Vésubie Valley since 1989 . From 1993 to 1997 Franco was a member of the French National Assembly for the Rassemblement pour la République . From 1998 to 2008 he was Director General of the Tourist Office of Nice . From 2005 to 2008 he was a member of the board of directors of the Mercantour National Park and held, among other things, the post of chairman. Franco has been a member of the European Parliament since 2009 . As such, Franco is a member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy and the Delegation for Relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council . Franco is a deputy on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee ; Active in the delegation for relations with Canada , as well as in the delegation in the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly and in the delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean .

He has also been a member of the Regional Council of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region since 2010 .

Franco is the bearer of the Order of St. Charles .
